About the Bison Booties lady, Erica Hager:
Before her daughter was born, Erica filled her nursery with items she made – gently handcrafted clothes, blankets, bibs etc. Among the treasures she created, she found one stand-out item she couldn't live without.
“My new baby was wearing a pair of soft cloth booties I made for her, and I realized that this was the greatest thing I’d ever made,” Erica said. “They stayed on her feet and she liked them.” After making countless tweaks and alterations, the first pair of “Bison Booties” was born.
“I'm a mom and I make these booties the way I know they will function best,” she said. “It’s my pattern. You won’t find these anywhere else.” The booties are made with designer cotton uppers and faux sherpa/suede soles. Soft fabric-wrapped elastic keep the booties comfortable snug on even the busiest baby feet.
As her daughter has grown, so have the available sizes. Currently, Bison Booties are available in all sizes from newborn to a toddler US size 6 (approx. 24 months).
Erica handcrafts each pair of Bison Booties in her home studio in rural North Dakota. To keep up with the growing demand, she doesn’t make them one at a time, but in batches of 100+ pairs. “Making them one-at-a-time would be silly. It’d be like making just one chocolate chip cookie,” she said.
